Rachel Zoe 'DIES' for a platform wedge!

Uber fashionista and stylist to the stars - Rachel Zoe, is one lady that is totally addicted to the fashion world. A self confessed lover and devotee to all things fashionably beautiful, I find her incredibly entertaining. She stars in the her own Bravo TV reality show, the Rachel Zoe Project  - a show that my friend in NY got me addicted to. Every trip I do to the big city, she PVR's the latest episodes (as a treat), and we watch them together, oozing over the complete extravagance of the designer and vintage fashion finds and over the top behaviour and hysterical language of team Zoe!
So you can understand my complete delight at having found that the local guys here at Vuzu on DSTV are currently screening Season 1 of the show. You absolutely have to check it out.

Rachel and her team successfully dress many Hollywood celebrities. Clients include her good friend Kate Hudson, Liv Tyler, Demi Moore and Molly Sims. Rachel herself is probably most well known for her tiny frame, massive collection of vintage designer clothing and jewellery, her love of huge oversized sunnies and maxi dresses. She became well known a few years ago when Nicole Richie became her client and dropped all those dress sizes to join the best dressed list.

Below are visuals from a post that whowhatwear daily did on Rachel a while back, which made me notice how much she just loves a platform - in fact in her own words, she DIES for them. And even more, a platform wedge!

With how big we are all anticipating the wedge to be next year, I thought it would be fitting to end this year off with a bit of wedge inspiration again. There really are some fabulous new styles coming out at designer retail level now. I have worked on a lot of iterations on my last trip - and the samples will be here when we are all back from leave in Jan.
Remember to slip on a pair of your favourite wedges over the festive season and go have some fun. Happy Holidays everyone!!

Winter in Hong Kong

So it's after 9 pm here in HK and I am finally almost on my way home after quite a long trip! It is full on winter here in Hong Kong, even though the temp has ranged between 20 and 22 deg since I've been here, it hasn't stopped the stores and windows from going full tilt on the winter goodies.  I took some pictures of store windows for you all to see. It might spark an idea or two that you might have left out as the finishing touch to your winter ranges.
So here goes.......

D&G very much in the high winter snow gear.

Pretty colour palette with metallic highlights @ Marc Jacobs.

Cute little mary-jane styling!

Lace-up ankle bootie in the Dior campaign.

The Parisian Shoe Master has opened a store in Harbor City Mall - high heel courts to DIE for abound here!!

Hardcore!

Nine West had beautiful winter statements: fur, sherper, animal luxe and suede galore!

Lots of the taupe shades.

Ankle boots were definitely a hot hot key item shown everywhere.

The dusty pinks, muted greys and creams really speak to the ladylike themes of the season.

Beautiful edwardian type styling with the front lacing on a thigh high boot.

Commando boots everywhere!!

Leopard was shown in almost all the stores in Hong Kong - was definitely a print on trend here.

Fur and shearling - also seen in huge volume and presence almost at every shoe store.
Clog boot!

Pretty pumps with large trims at Staccato.

Another good & easy wedge boot.

Red was used as a highlight colour quite a bit.

Boots, boots and more boots!

The shoes were all quite smart in the execution, in courts, wedges and pump constructions.

LOVED this wall from Diesel!

Pedder were showing some really hard executions - and lots and lots of black.

Pushed leisure type styling - increased shaft lengths and lots of buckles.

Another fur trimmed boot.

Some purple as a highlight.

More courts and wedges in the shoes.

Valentino Red did these plain and easy courts and bow detail pumps in their windows.

Snakeskin highlights at Steve Madden.

Coloured metallic pumps!

Very busy!

Apologies for the poor pic! Boot window.

Crochet detailing starting to come through.

Cleaner riding boot at Massimo Duti.

Zara had A LOT of leopard!!

The opening statement in the store was this red and leopard story - I thought it looked very strong!

Then, found this Grazia article on their take on Fashion's 100 Hottest Items for Winter. Thought you would like to browse over it & take note of the footwear styles picked out:

In summary, Boots are most definitely the largest commodity for next Winter (by far this was seen to be the case in all stores!). Ankle boots were probably the biggest category in this commodity, with the commando and worker boot executions also being very dominant. Thigh high boots were also seen - from heeled to flat and smart to casual executions. Fur and shearling were also big looks being shown - with lots of taupes, mushrooms and grey being the key colours here. Shoes were looking very smart, with lots of court shoes, wedges and pumps executed in the ranges. Black really dominated the colour palettes, and the natural family with greys being the next biggest - with leopard and red being shown as highlights.

Getting on the plane now - so gotta run! Ciao from China & see you all soon xx
